Legal Protection When You Need It Most

New Jersey's Prevention of Domestic Violence Act provides strong legal tools to protect victims of abuse, harassment, and stalking. A restraining order can prohibit contact, require the abuser to leave the shared home, and provide other critical protections.

Whether you need to obtain a restraining order quickly or you need to defend against one you believe is unjust, Michael E. Damico has the experience to guide you through the process with urgency and care.

Types of Restraining Orders

Temporary Restraining Order (TRO)

A TRO can be obtained the same day you file. It provides immediate protection and is in effect until a final hearing, typically within 10 days.

Final Restraining Order (FRO)

After a court hearing where both parties can present evidence, a judge may issue a Final Restraining Order — which has no expiration date in New Jersey.

Defending Against a Restraining Order

If you have been served with a TRO, you have the right to contest it at the final hearing. We provide strong, strategic defense to protect your rights.
